The Senior Director of Development is a leadership team member and an active participant in strategic decision-making for The Alliance Center. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Development is responsible for all fundraising and development activities. This position is responsible for creating and implementing a strategic development plan that will expand and diversify The Alliance Center’s funder base and help to create and maintain a culture of philanthropy.

The Senior Director of Development must have a proven track record of meeting aggressive fundraising goals. Specifically, this position will be responsible for meeting the annual fundraising goal of $2 million by 2020 and helping to identify and create an appropriate fundraising goal for future years that supports the mission and vision of the organization. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build The Alliance Center’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Senior Director of Development must be an exceptional leader who sets high expectations and is passionate about enabling his/her team to meet those expectations.

Skills & Experience:
7+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising.
Demonstrated success managing and forging relationships with multiple funding sources with a proven track record in corporate, foundation and major gift solicitation and cultivation.
Proven ability to effectively develop and steward long-term relationships with high net worth individuals.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively manage development communications related to storytelling and advancing the case for support on behalf of the organization. Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term and trusting relationships.
Strategic and innovative thinker with ability to manage short-term and long-term plans and goals, with a record of achieving results.
Successful in managing a team of staff members.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside The Alliance Center.
An understanding for and ability to passionately represent concepts of sustainability that advance Planet, People, and Prosperity.
Experience working with board and board committees.
Ability to develop and successfully manage a budget.
